Tips to enhance your search. | Close |
1) Less is more. It's great that you know the entire title of the case that you are looking for. But you should vigorously resist the urge to type all of it into the search box. Pick one word from the title that is distinctive and search for that. You may end up with a few more matches than expected, but it's a surer way of finding your case. Good example: Godavarman BAD example: T.N.Godavarman Tirumalpad 2) The search engine performs an AND search by default. This means that if you keyed in two words, and one of them happens to be misspelled, you might not get results for the other either. Eg. A search for Narmada Bachaoo Andolan would fail because of the way Bachao is spelt. A better way to search would have been Narmada and Bacha* and Andolan if you must have all three words in your result 3)This search engine isn't optimised for the spelling-impaired! Use wildcards (*)if there's a chance that your word might have alternate spellings. 4) Kesavananda Bharati is here or in here. 5) Search by citations only works for cases upto 1993. Sorry! Must be in the correct format eg: AIR 1979 SC 234 or 1979 SCR (1) 701 or (1979) 2 SCC 221 6) If you're looking for cases on a particular section of an Act, sometimes it might be a good idea to quote key phrases from the section instead of searching for the section number itself. |
